odesola idowu harmony: about the art
Artist statement
My art portrays our true identity — it reveals our authentic self. It serves as a medium to interpret the deepest emotions of the heart, despite the masks we choose to wear.
Many people put on smiling masks, yet deep inside, they wrestle with heavy thoughts and silent struggles.
Through my work, I tell stories of what we do to survive, how we live our daily lives, and the hidden feelings that words often fail to express. My art becomes a mirror of the soul, capturing both the pain and beauty within.

Humans wear iboju (masks) to hide their truest selves. A smile becomes an umbrella, covering pain, fear, and loneliness. Behind laughter: sorrow. Behind boldness: trembling. We hide because the world demands strength, not weakness. But art unmasks us, It reveals the hidden tears, the unspoken stories, the silent cries. Every mask hides a soul longing to be seen.
